For lack of time, some immigrants have no choice but to return to their country at the end of their work visa. In order to avoid this, Ms. Mathieu stresses that if one has a two-year work visa, such as a "vacancy-work permit", one must go one year in advance to apply for permanent residence. Preparing all the documents for the immigration file (diplomas, work experience, criminal records, language tests, etc.) can take six months. And the applicant has a maximum of six months to wait to get an answer. It is therefore a year that must be planned!
Francophones have an advantage over others, they speak French and "it's a significant advantage when you want to make Express Entry ," says Mathieu.
There are many ways to do the process. The person may choose to collect the requested documents themselves. It's not impossible, but you have to be patient! For those who have a more complicated file, it is suggested to use a lawyer, another generally more expensive solution.
